Teeth on the Go 2.0 - New for 2010!

Delta Dental of Virginia is excited to offer a new and improved version of our dental health education program, Teeth on the Go 2.0.
Using the feedback from teachers and school nurses that have used the program, we have made some great new changes:

Outside of Kit

For Kindergarten - Grade 2:
-6 separate lessons that can be taught as a unit or a single lesson
-New Land of Smiles DVD divided into 6 short chapters
-New classroom activities, including making a 3D tooth model
-New take-home materials, including first aid for dental emergencies, to educate children and parents
-Children's books, including what to expect for a dental checkup
-An audio CD with a fun, educational dental song that sets the stage for teaching students in a creative way
-An oversized set of teeth with floss and a giant toothbrush to illustrate how children should care for their teeth

For Grades 3 - 5:
-5 separate, more advanced lessons that can be taught as a unit or as single lessons
-A daily brushing and flossing chart to develop these healthy habits
-Fun activity sheets, including a word search and crossword puzzle
-A science experiment to demonstrate how cavities are formed
-Reading food labels to make smart food choices

About the Kit

The new curriculum, in a 3-ring binder format, uses tabs to separate the materials into the two levels above (K-2 and 3-5).
Each lesson follows the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs), including materials needed, suggested discussion, activities and follow-up.
Even the inside of the box top is new! Use the box top, with a full color diagram of the types of teeth, as a visual aid when discussing how each tooth has a unique purpose.

How does it work?

Any Virginia school nurse or teacher may request a kit, which we will loan out for a 2 week period, free of charge, similar to a library system.

We recommend that you order the kit 2 weeks in advance of the date that you need it. We will ship the kit to your school via a commercial carrier. Delta Dental of Virginia will pay for the shipping charges to and from your school.
