Community Service

Delta Dental of Virginia takes oral health very seriously, but to a child, we know that dental care can seem boring. In an effort to change that, we developed two innovative youth programs: Smart Smiles® and Teeth on the Go 2.0, both designed to improve the dental health of Virginia's children. Additionally, Delta Dental provides financial support to many organizations across Virginia that provide oral health services and education. Smart Smiles, Teeth on the Go 2.0 and our numerous financial contributions play a critical role in fulfilling our mission to advance the public’s oral health by improving access to dental care and promoting increased oral health education across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Forming good dental hygiene habits early in life can be a huge boost to overall oral health. Teeth on the Go 2.0 is a fun and imaginative teaching resource designed to help elementary school children understand just how important proper dental care is to them. Smart Smiles

Delta Dental’s Smart Smiles® is an innovative program that provides desperately needed dental care to Virginia’s children who do not have dental insurance or who qualify for Medicaid/FAMIS/Smiles for Children. In addition, Smart Smiles participants receive dental health education and hygiene instruction as part of the experience. Smart Smiles programs are currently operating in Southwest Virginia, Richmond, the Virginia Peninsula, Charlottesville and Martinsville with more than 500 children enrolled in the program.
