Healthy Smile, Healthy You®
Delta Dental of Virginia’s Healthy Smile, Healthy You* program, provides additional benefits for three important health conditions connected to oral health: pregnancy, diabetes and certain high risk cardiac conditions. Once enrolled, members will be eligible for one additional cleaning and exam (or peridontal maintenance procedure if they have a history of definitive periodontal treatment, such as surgery) beyond the ordinary limit per benefit period (or, if pregnant, during the term of their pregnancy). More than 100 diseases show early symptoms in the mouth and may be first detected by a dental exam. In addition, periodontal disease, more commonly called gum disease, appears to negatively influence the body’s overall health.
*Our Healthy Smile, Healthy You benefit is available for subscribers with Delta Dental PPO and Delta Dental Premier coverage who are employed by groups that offer the program. Please contact your Human Resources representative to find out if this benefit is available for you.
