Research shows that there are many links between oral health and overall body health. So, besides giving you a beautiful smile, it's become increasingly important to have dental benefits that provide coverage for preventive care and diagnostic visits, as well as care for issues such as fillings, root canals, crowns and dentures.

Delta Dental of Virginia's individual plans are available to all Virginia residents who are not eligible for group dental coverage through an employer. For eligible individuals, coverage is also available for your spouse and/or dependent children. Dependent children are eligible through the end of the year during which they turn age 25.

With Delta Dental individual coverage, you will have access to the nation's largest dental networks, which means your regular dentist probably already participates with us. Of course, you can choose to visit any dentist you wish, even if they are not in our network. You will still receive benefits from your dental plan when you visit a non-participating dentist, but your share of the cost will likely be higher than if you receive care from a participating dentist.

Delta Dental is the only dental carrier that offers you a dual network advantage by giving you access to dentists from both our Premier and PPO networks. Delta Dental Premier is the largest dental network in Virginia with more than 3,300 participating dentists. Access to Delta Dental Premier, our most extensive network, gives you a wide selection of dentists with economical out-of-pocket costs. Delta Dental PPO is our preferred provider organization with a smaller number of participating dentists than our Premier network.

Dentists who participate in our PPO network have agreed to accept lower reimbursements for their services, which means lower out-of-pocket costs for you.
