Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation Grant Guidelines

The following is an overview of the Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation grant guidelines. Before applying for a grant, please review the complete listing of our grant guidelines.

Funding Priorities

Funding is provided for new initiatives, to sustain ongoing treatment of existing programs, start-up funding or one-time events that will include one or more of the following Foundation grant criteria:

Access to Care

Initiatives focus on breaking down the barriers that prevent uninsured or underinsured individuals from accessing oral health care and/or the delivery of care in their communities. Examples that would fall in this category could include, but are not limited to, initiatives that increase the number of dental patients seen, provide for additional dentists and dental staff, purchase dental equipment or eliminate barriers that keep patients from keeping appointments. Additional initiatives for consideration include those that seek to increase the overall number of dentists practicing in Virginia, particularly in rural, underserved areas.

Oral Health Education

Initiatives focus on providing oral health education to the public with a special focus on low income individuals and children as well as enhancing educational initiatives for those pursuing a career in oral heath.

Advances in Oral Health through Research

Initiatives focus on improving oral health through medical, educational and behavioral research.
